Thy Word Have I Treasured In My Heart

It was at this humble house at 216 N. Bonnie Brae Street, Los Angeles, CA on April 9, 1906 that The Fire fell which became the Azuza Street Pentecostal Revival.

Lord, let Your Spirit fall afresh on us Tuesdays at 7pm starting October 1 at 323 Whittington Drive, Danville, VA.

Our directions from the Lord for these evenings are simple. Gather with one heart around simple Scripture songs of worship and allow Him freedom to move. So, expect the gifts of His Spirit to be active in YOU. Be obedient, please.

Not knowing what Scripture songs we already might have treasured in our hearts, I felt it expedient to gather a core group of such songs and make them available in video format with the lyrics (links below). The list will grow over the next few weeks. This will be most helpful for those of us who have not experienced the simplicity of Scripture songs during their walk with the Lord.

I've recorded these videos in the last week or so in the very room where we'll be worshiping for several reasons. First, as mentioned, to help those new to small group worship, (i.e., no overhead projectors or hymn books!) to build their personal catalogue of memorized Scripture songs, hence the name for our small group, "Thy Word Have I Treasured In My Heart."

Also, I did not want folks to have high expectations of the technical aspects of the evenings. I don't play all that well, as you can hear, and I sing worse, definitely a joyful noise. However, over the years I have found that the Object of my worship is not interested in the quality of my voice but in the condition of my heart. He is pleased when we draw near to Him with whatever gifts He has given us and lay them at His feet as a sacrifice of worship.

Finally, I hope others who have some gifting with acoustic instruments might be emboldened to join me in playing. Make a joyful, bring your guitar, flute, tambourines, too! I have the chords in PDFs which I can email. With the recordings linked below, you can practice my awkward presentation and timing.
